daniel kapovic: Alwyn Court Building, Midtown, Manhattan
DK’s Inspiration & Reason: The Alwyn Court Building has certainly seen its fair share of changes happening around it. Built in 1909, the building appears straight out of Paris and only visiting the Big Apple. The rich detail on the facade is something we do not see anymore in modern architecture. It’s a refreshing scene to come across. I wanted to take a photo of the incredible facade and chose to shoot the photo at an angle. I think all the straight lines on the building give an interesting contrast to the diagonal photo. On top of that I decided to shoot the photo in black and white to invoke more of that classical feel to the building. It’s great in color but in black and white the building truly is at home.
